Thank you for visiting this website. However, we are sorry to announce that Hotel Red Bay has closed and is not accepting bookings at this time. We would like to take a moment to thank the many dozens of guests who made our nearly two years in business such an enjoyable and rewarding experience.
The Historic Hotel Red Bay was originally opened in 1924. Now, almost 100 years later the hotel has been renovated and reimagined in Southern elegance and charm for the next century of visitors and guests to our quaint, welcoming community in Northwest Alabama.
Hotel Red Bay was opened in 1924 near the crossroads of 1st street and the railroad line in this Northwest Alabama city founded on the Alabama/Mississippi state line. It replaced an older wooden structure that had served as the town’s first hotel after the railroad was built and the city was founded in 1907. Through the years Hotel Red Bay (also known sometimes as Red Bay Hotel) served many guests and travelers coming to the community to do business with area merchants or to visit family and friends. After falling on hard times the hotel closed in the late 1970s and sat vacant for many years, nearly succumbing to age. However, the hotel was acquired by a new owner, Marc Dempsey, in the late 1990s who had the desire and vision to see the hotel restored to its original glory and saved from destruction. A lengthy restoration process began in the mid 2000s, with the hotel being opened to a new generation of visitors and guests on April 14, 2017. However, after almost two years of operation it became clear we could no longer maintain the hotel operation. We hope this is not the end of the story for this grand historic building, and look forward to seeing what the future holds for the facility.
